First of all, thanks for considering me worthy of an opinion that is considerable.
My opinion is same as yours. The new M5 does not stand a chance against the GTR. The M5 will not be able to recover the advantage the GTR will gain from 0 to 100 thanks to AWD. Thats a whole 1.4 secs right there (GTR 3.0 to M5 4.4).
With the launch control the M5, is expected to do 0 to 100 in just below 4 secs. I would expect that to be around 3.9 secs. Still, the GTR has an advantage that would be very hard to beat.
On the track, the GTR is lighter and AWD, so the M5 will have no chance there as well.
The interesting comparison in my opinion would be the E60 M5 VS the F10 M5. If you don't use lauch control, I believe that the E60 would be faster to the 250 mark. The F10 M5 will take the lead to start with, but the E60 should start catching up once it crosses 150. The extra horse power of the F10 M5 will be discounted by about a 100kgs heavier weight load.
My think is really no chance for the E60 M5 with the new m5..beileve me no chance if the E60 moded and over 600 hp ..i would say maybe..you ask for my opinon..i have both the 2003 e39 m5 and the 2007 e63 m6..i prefer driving the e39 m5 all day..but the m6 also different characters.
