It'll make you feel like having a shorter shifter because you're now exerting more force on the stick to move it.

Torque = Force x Perpendicular Distance. Torque required to move the shifter is constant based on the design, Distance is now less, therefore to compensate Force has to be increased. Hence the "feeling" :)
