and about capturing cars wanted by the police, hmm can you explain this further Ssense?? let's say my car is wanted or reported, this means they already know my number :dunno: so what does the radar exactly do, shoot me??
"Dubai: A new radar that can detect wanted vehicles has been installed on Shaikh Zayed Road.
Brigadier Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Director of Dubai Police Traffic Department, inspected the radar on Dubai Police Academy Bridge, which can detect vehicles wanted for traffic or criminal offences.
The radar also traces the wanted vehicles and can detect the speed and the direction of the wanted vehicle, whether it was a stolen vehicle or wanted for accumulated fines.
Brigadier Al Zafein said the radar also can detect offences such as wrong overtaking, not using indicators and speeding. The radar is able to tolerate changing weather conditions and high temperatures.
He said the goal of installing radars is to deter offenders from committing offences and protect the lives of road users."
whaaaat ??? what is that ? the only thing missing is to detect if you blink or drive with one not two hands or maybe if you shoes are on or off while you driving ...
this radar is ..................................... done
Either that or they are making stuff up to scare people. I wonder if the companies that product speed cameras and radars have web sites so we can see what these things are capable of

from my humble engineering point of view, most of the things are very sofisticated to apply & honestly i doubt the truth of the below.. i think they're trying to scare people with this tower! :cid:

Haissam: [not possible unless there's some tracking devices to be installed in all cars something similar to the salik tag or maybe tracking device on the plates etc... but a plate recognition system?? no way!]

or "Revenue Generators" depending on your outlook. Either way you should be aware that Dubai is deploying new, stealthy cameras that look like bollards, see the story and photo below:
A - location: its on a straight, wide section of road AFTER a potentially dangerous junction, so although its revenue-raising potential is high, its lifesaving potential is small
B - the stealth aspect: cameras we can't see won't slow drivers down, they will just generate fines. If the police want us to drive slower at this point, make the camera big and yellow and no-one will speed past it.
