I just saw that on Gulfnews. Good step I agree but now i need to find a way to get a refund of my 860 AED i just spent for the new year party. Don't get me wrong, i m not selfish, i respect the decision but man this is still 860 AED.

there's thousands like you, i hope they already have a solution since party organizers & hotels etc have already invested in the parties, and everyone is gonna ask for a refund..

so who's paying the bill?

+ 1 a friend of mine is Finance manager for jumeirah group. I just called him now to confirm the source is now called back to the hotel for emergencies solution and look for the lost they might have in all hotels. The think is we have rent a boat to see the fireworks and to be honnest i m not sure how we will get any refund as everything as been pre-paid, the boat, food, drinks etc...

Like i said it is good what will be done but is it the right time? End of the day that will be a hugh lost for everyone... I don't know how they will refund everyone...

This was a very good decision, but a little late. Needed much more planning.

As an arab I feel really ashamed that we being an Arab country and a unity of Gulf nations we cant do anything to save those precious lives of our Palestenian families in Gaza.
I respect the move of cancelling the New Year's celebrations down here, but what Im trying to say is, this is not atall enough. This is the time when all Arab countries should stand together and fight for our right of humanity. I no more believe in the saying, "United we stand and divided we fall", infact United we fall and divided we already fell..

May God be with Palestine !

The losses would have to be incurred by the organizers itself - i think.

cuz the people would want money back, given any reason.

If I get the money back it will go for the charity as per last message from Ayham. I just I can get the money back otherwise it will be a big waste.

I assume most of the crowd will shift there for partying. Ppl are not going to face losses, however, most of the event organizers will take a big hit!

Wazif, no easy at all, we rent a boat the organizer already paid everything, food, drinks etc... Even if he wants to give the money back he doesn't have it anymore. Anyway i just spoke with the guy and if we don't do it tonight we will do it tomorrow night. will see.
