If you were asked to choose between a Merc C-Class, an Audi A4 and a Beamer 3-Series, and hypothetically, they all had the same engine size (3.0), and the same price, which would you choose, why, and what would the long term costs for wear and tear, resale, etc. be, provided you only have warranty till 60k kms, and no maintenance contract so you have to pay for each maintenance?
This question has been bothering me for a while now!

Here is how I would raet them best to worse.
Wear and Tear: Audi, Mercedes, BMW.
Resale: Mercedes, BMW, Audi.
Cost of Service: Audi, BMW, Mercedes.
Overall: Audi, Mercedes, BMW.
However, you cannot ignore the fact that the Merc is the most expensive.
Thanks for the insight, I thought as much, but it's better to hear it coming from an actual owner.
A year ago, someone on Dubizzle was selling an Audi S4 (I think it was a B5), for 8k. And I really, really wanted to get it. But because it was a twin turbo, I felt maintenance would be an absolutely nightmare. I've also wondered why the S8s and A8s are sold so cheap here.
I've been in the Merc C and E class, the new models, and I'm not happy with the interior. They were tacky, with hard plastics. The steering also has an annoying mechanical feel to it.
