    SUPERCHARGE / TURBO KIT FOR E46 M3....

    Hi all,

Okay I am considering a supercharger or turbo kit for my M3; stage 2 to be specific.

Now i have minimul knowledge about such kits, so i wanted to read ur comments with regards to the following:

    (1) Which is a better choice, a turbo kit (think blow off valve lol) or supercharger kit. Considering our weather.

    (2) I was told that within stage 2, i wont need to upgrade any parts (like clutch, etc) cause its still within the capabilities of an M3. True?

    (3) Once installed, can the car still be used on a daily basis? Or will this be too much pressure on the car?

    (4) My car has reached the 100,000 km mark. Is it too late for such an upgrade. The car is in excellent mechanical condition.

    (5) My budget is around 8,000 to 9,000 dollars. I have a supplier here in kuwait who can assist me in getting a better deal on any kit i decide on.

    (6) Ur recommendations to kits that fit within my budget.

    Thanks! alot!

I would recommend going for the Turbo, as ppl usually regret going with the supercharger after a while....

Regarding the kits and what to get. I really dont know but check with ActiveAutowerks and Horse power freaks and see what would they qoute you.

A stage two kit would require a clutch upgrade depending on the gains it promises....but i would advice you to upgrade ur clutch and flywheel in order to hold the increase of torque and achieve better results.

A 100K car is still a pretty low milage one if you ask me as our engine would easily run for many more miles :D

Good luck with ur project and make sure u consider meth injection for our hot summers :)

Yes HPF is waaaaaaaaay beyond my budget! lolll

And Bashar, u said consider meth injection for our hot summers. can u tell me more about it. Is this something i should ask for when i look for a kit? Meaning is this something to add to the kit, or kits come with it?

        Thanks

If i'm not mistaking, I believe HPF gives the clutch kit with HPF Stage 2 ...

If you talk to them and try convincing them, you might get a good deal ... Call them directly to US .... this is what i used to do when I wanted to buy my clutch ... They gave me clutch lines and extra oils for free plus a huge discount, but unfortunately I broke my clutch here into two pieces which made me buy an OEM clutch so I can get my car running !

I personally am an NA guy...I LOVE turbo on cars that came from factory with turbo.

Well, if you're bent on it then HPF are my choice. You can contact Chris(HPF Chris) on the forums here. Here's a sample of their work:

Am not fully aware of the competetion prices for similar power gains. But trust me, you DO NOT want to go skimping when you're retro fitting FI to an NA engine!

I'd pay the extra and know I have my arse covered in case something goes wrong....In your shoes, I'd save up for the "proper" setup and fit it later.

The video is cool, damn that BLOW OFF VALVE NOISE!!! reminds me of the old supra days!!!

Someone told me that there is something made for supercharge kits that makes the same sound, basically a blow off valve for supercharge kits! I dont think it makes sense, cause where is that air blowing concept in the supercharge kit?

I swear i want to get a turbo kit just for that noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

I'm not looking at something cheap here!
                    My options for now are:
                    (1) Active AutoWerkes
                    (2) VF Engineering
They are both good from what i read. Also my friend has the VF engineering kit, he says its great!

                    HPF is way too expensive!

LSB, if I were you I'd thoroughly research FI and get aquainted with all its systems and tricks. By then you'd have the price for an HPF kit (that long :D).

AA and VFE are top notch brands too, how much is the difference between the three firms?

A BOV (Blow Off Valve) is used on both systems and it exists in two formats; atmospheric (the crazy noise you're after) and recirculating. Recirculating BOVs make tuning easier since they keep the same air volume flow rate in the system and hence the ECU wouldn't have to compensate like it does for the vented air to the atmosphere in the atmospheric BOV. The BOV is a pressure relief device that activates when the boost is above a preset limit.

AA VF and HPF have offers starting in 6k range, and for non-m3 i believe they are selling them starting from $3.5K now.... you might want to aproach chris who's on our forums who also represents AA and check with what he has to offer you.

Dude !! Screw the BOV !!
Get yourself a CSL CF airbox with Alpha-N for brains!! You'd never want to hear a fart-off valve again !!!
No offence to Turbo lovers :D

Okay guys thank u soooooo much for the feedback, i kind of feel more comfortable getting into my research now. But i'm still lacking answers for:

                              (1) Which is a better choice, a turbo kit (think blow off valve lol) or supercharger kit. Considering our weather. Which and why

                              (3) Once installed, can the car still be used on a daily basis? Or will this be too much pressure on the car? Yes or not really!

                              Thanks again to all....
