E92 coupe transmission issue

Hello,

Recently I started to feel a jerk/surge when gear shifts from second gear to first gear when reduces the speed and stops, yesterday I got the yellow transmission error color with the code cc-id 420. I turned off the car and on again and the warning disappeared. Advise please on the issue is it a velvet body issue or whole transmission system.

Regards

30,000 on the same engine oil?? Don't let your engine run on the same oil for that long :\

That jerk on shifting could be the transmission mounts or the coupling between the driveshaft and the transmission. Have somebody lift up the car and check it for you.

Good luck.

Has the car been launched frequently? difficult to pin point the issue unless more info on car driven history and service history is available. Better take it to a specialist. Check the transmission fluid level and quality. will indicate how healthy the tranny is.

I've taken it to a garage and he told me that its the velvet body and that would cost not less than 8k.

here is what i would do since you have the 6hp19 - do an oil and filter change for the gearbox, you need the ZF lifeguard 6 oil, and at the same time have them to remove the valve body and change the mechatronics adapter seal and the sleeve seal, it is the cheapest thing you can do which most certainly will do the trick, as long as the gearbox is changing smoothly and you have no other issues, this should probably cost around 2-2.5k. Also check the magnets when they remove the oil pan and see how much metal debris they've got on it, this will tell you how badly your clutches have been burnt. And thank BMW for their "lifetime" oil used in their gearboxes, though ZF says differently and they make them!

Who would you recommend getting to perform this work? My 730i could do with the work being done as it is starting to show signs of long term use with no TLC. Currently has about 150k on the clock.

Thanks!

try this

It worked on my '07 335. Here is how you do it:

1. Put key in the ignition
2. Click on the Start button without having your foot on the accelerator. At this point the lights on the dash will all light up.
3. Push the accelerator to the floor and hold it for about 30 seconds. This is the reset sound. Don't worry if you don't hear it. Just keep your foot on the pedal for about 30 seconds.

otherwise try to use inpa for Adaptive reset,, if it goes you r fine otherwise talk to our man shak

For Tranny work take it to Dexol in Deira. I have had good luck there and they ONLY do transmissions. Also while you are there have them change the fluid. I do not believe in forever fill tranny fluid as that is just asking for trouble after many years. If the car is mid life a trans fluid change will help it last a lot longer.
