    I still use the castrol 10w-60 and its smooth and i don't have any issues

      I'm on my stock bearings still. Thing is, each car is different.. I've read so many threads about Bearings, some cars failed at 15,000 kms and other cars are still running on stock bearings after 200,000 kms. It's just so vague...

      However, I'll change mine next winter. I'm on 91,000 kms now.

          Time for oil change, I got the original BMW Oil 15W 40 for my E92 335i.
          I'm not quite sure if this is good for the N54. can anyone confirm before i apply it?

              I Ended up switching to 5w 30! made some researches and found out that this is the best for the twin turbo engines.

                Just changed to liquid moly 10w 60. Wasn't happy with the oil after changing the shells. I think the additives will help protect the engine. Will give feedback after 8K

                  Liqui molly is the heaviest 10W-60 out there. Very poor flow characteristics at cold start.

                  Also, the viscosity index is very high. So, it needs a lot of time to warm up.

                    Thats a good characteristic to have in the Middle east i think, although cold starts should last a little longer than usual, the oil should also perform better then on the race track in terms of overheating issues?

                      So just to update you all on this Liquidmoly oil, here are some facts:

                      Oil change period so far :4000 km

                      Maximum Oil Temp reached @ 39c = 100

                      after pushing the Car for 30 mins @ 35c Maximum temp = 105

                      Long drive to Abu dhabi ( longish) @ 38c Maximum temp = 101

                      All in Celsius.

                      Top up in 4K Km = 1 liter

                      @36c , pushing it for 30mins and final picture @39c.

                        So guys just an update. Recently did a trackday at Yas Marina and the oil performed extremely well. On the way there the temp went up to 47.5c and oil was really stable at slightly below 100c. I did 2 runs of 3 laps. Picture below shows the oil temp straight after 3 laps.


                        I am now 5Ks into the oil change and topped up 1 litre so far.
