New Forum Member - Long time enthusiast

My apologies for a lengthy post in advance. Just wanted a quick and proper introduction to get to know everyone here...

My name is Medhat Ashi, I just recently moved to Dubai from Dallas,TX a few months ago. My first time leaving the US and my first time in the middle east. Glad I chose Dubai as I've been lurking around here for a while before finally creating an account so I can formally introduce my self and hopefully join my fellow enthusiasts here.

Long time BMW/Porsche enthusiast. For as long as I can remember I've been an avid and active BMW enthusiast so I was really excited to see there's a group here for me to socialize with and hopefully build new relations and friendships with.

    A little ownership history...

My first BMW was a 1995 E36 M3 Daytona Violet 5spd w/Mcloth interior (rare in the US) prob not so sought after on this side of the world. I was hooked and my vehicle history shows it...Out of 17 total cars, 12 were BMWs.

    1995 Daytona Violet E36 M3 2dr/5spd
    1995 Cosmos Black E36 M3 2dr/5spd
    1999 Fern Green E36 M3 2dr/5spd
    1991 Alpine White 325i 2dr/5spd
    1996 Arctic Silver E36 M3 2dr/5spd
    1996 Arctic Silver E36 328i Sport 4dr/5spd
    1998 Hellrot Red E36 M3 2dr/5spd
    2001 Electric Red E39 540 Sport 6spd
    2003 Schwartz Black E39 540 Msport
    1998 Hellrot Red E36 M3 4dr/5spd *current
    2005 Imola Red E46 M3 coupe/6spd
    2001 Titanium Silver 740iL Sport

During my decision to move here I was current on my last 3 on the list with a Jeep as my daily driver and I've since sold my E46 and E38 and decided to keep my E36 sedan as it held a special place in my life and I couldn't get rid of it. I have been playing with BMWs and Porsches for a long time and made my hobby a career choice. Factory trained BMW Technician with experience ranging from US Dealer environment to privately owned and operated BMW/Porsche specialist shops experienced with new and current models to heavy custom builds and track-car modifications. My latest project was my E36 w/s54 swap out of a z3Mcoupe that I've long since traded in favor of more power s5x turbo setup which I left in the states while i settle down here.

I look forward to hopefully meeting some of y'all soon and bringing my car over and hit some track days out here.

some interesting list of cars and mods. im sure you will like it here.

if money is not a problem it would be nice to start fresh with a new car, those e46 m3s are cheap and could be a faster platform if done right.

      Thanks Bruno.

Most of those cars have been dual duty track builds. I loved my E46M but that's exactly why I let it go. They are a dime a dozen and easy to attain fairly cheap for well kept examples. My E36M sedan is 1 of 132 in the states so not as common of a find. E46 is a much softer chassis in comparison too. The E36 had an s54 swapped with Delage CF airbox, ceramic coated headers, custom 3" exhaust to fit the E36, VAC treated rodbearings and ARP connecting rod bolts, underdrive pulleys and a custom EPIC Motorsports race tune dynoed at 315whp.. but I traded in favor of going F/I. S54s are expensive to turbo but an S52 is cheap and easy to break 600whp with a good setup. Just not sure how well turbo cars do in this heat. But it has never been a primary car anyways so wouldn't expect it to be one here either. Another E46 or E9x would make a great daily but being deprived of LR Defenders in the states those toys are hard to resist for me now that I am here.

Thank you for the warm welcome =).

I'll be sure to introduce my self. Planning on attending Bimmerfest InshAllah. I've attended many of their events in the US and collaborated with them with our local enthusiast group in Dallas as well. Had a magazine feature of our event. Looking forward to settling here as soon as I find a profession.

Here's a few photos from our magazine cover and a short clip of our events.

I appologize if I am violating forum rules but I realised I do not have the ability to send a PM. I see you're an admin Bruno and was wondering what rules if there are any of posting a thread about asking the community to help in finding employment or connect with a recruiter. I see the club has a lot of connections with sponsors who I would be interested in joining to add either another enthusiast to their team or become a valued member to the local community. My professional background is extensive within the automotive industry coming from the US. Thought I should ask permission before in case its against forum rules...

              Thank you =)
