Great thread! Hope the members will also put down their experience.

Personally, my favourite as been the PS2. Ran them on my E46 M3 for the 10 years i owned the car. A set of 4 easily lasted me 3.5-4 years with good grip through out its lifespan. Less road noise, no cracking under heat either.

Currently running PZero's on my e92 M3 and within 2 years, its already cracked (all 4!). To add on, its not as grippy as the PS2 and more noisy as well. Cant wait to go back to PS2's.

The F80 has continentals on from the dealership. Grip is good, but they are noisy when cold. The noise reduces once you run them for a while.

Not certain on how accurate the source of the information above is, but from personal experience I do not agree to the ratings mentioned.

Important facts to be noted to the list of tires above.

NT05R / MT ET-R are drag radials and do provide exceptional grip in a straight line, but do not perform well on turns on a circuit track and even on streets (if the fronts are running them as well).

Also, the definition of grip varies from everyone's relative experience, whether its for street or track use, and how well the overall setup of the car/tire is. For example, you will have less grip in a 235 wide racing slick than a 295 Hankook Ventus TD on an E92 M3.

Anyhow, I will list the tires I have personally used on both road and track circuits within a similar tire size range to stock (Front:245-265 & Rear:265-295).

1 - Hankook Ventus TD (the closest grip levels to a racing slick tire on track)
          2 - Pirelli P-ZERO Trofeo R
          3 - TOYO R888
          4 - Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2
          5 - Nitto NT05
6 - Michelin Pilot Super Sport

** I have recently opted to ONLY run square setups on track to maximize front end grip so I have used up to 295 mm front tires as well.

          Cheers,
          A.Gamal

There are also other tires that fall within the range of tires interms of grip to the list above.

Absolutey correct about the square setup on slicks. How would you compare front end grip between hankooks and R888's?
